Dates from '50s to '00s

February 08, 2018

Hi everyone!

Today I was inspired to write about dates.
Valentine's Day is coming soon, so you probably know how will look all that romantic dates (romantic dinner at fancy restaurant, night club or watching movies, with bottle of wine I guess..) . Whether it’s your first date or your 110th, sometimes it’s hard to come up with something more original than dinner and a movie. But, have you ever imagined how looked dates in 1950 for example? To spark your creativity, I found on the Internet an ideas for your perfect date from a certain decade.

The '50S

Start your date night off with a little comfort food from a cute vintage diner. Whether you order meatloaf or pancakes, pair it with a sky-high malt or shake—with extra whipped cream and two straws, of course. After you’ve had your fill, check out a vintage flick on an al fresco big screen (check out for locations). Don’t have a drive-in close to home? An outdoor movie should do the trick! Pair your '50s-inspired date with red suede pumps, leather leggings, and an off-the-shoulder shirt, à la Olivia Newton John in Grease.

The '60S

Show your date you’re the definition of cool by taking them to a Woodstock-esque outdoor fall music festival. While there are always great summer shows, fall’s the perfect time of year to take in a festival during the cooler months. If there isn’t one happening near you, check out outdoor concert venues. Get your groove on by rocking a floral-inspired maxi dress with comfy sandals to keep you dancing all night long.

The '70S

Buy a cheap lava lamp and/or disco ball off of Craigslist or eBay, and set them up in your bedroom before dimming the lights. Then put on your best flares, a slick pair of booties, and your favorite comfy T-shirt—and wait for your partner to come home and take them all off of you so you can try a little '70s-style "swinging" in your newly decorated pad.

The '80S

Strap on some skates, and take your date to an old-school roller rink—complete with flashing lights, cool tunes and the perfect opportunity to hold hands while you find your balance. Who knows; maybe you’ll fall in love underneath glow in the dark stars after a few laps around the rink! Rock your favorite neon pieces to keep the 80’s vibe going all night long.

The '90S

Remember that iconic scene from the opening credits of Full House—the one with the whole family picnicking under the Golden Gate Bridge? (Every '90s kid knows what we're talking about!) Recreate your own version while overlooking a picturesque view in your city. To keep up with the '90s theme, rock your favorite grunge look (including ripped denim and plaid) while enjoying your picnic spread: Hi-C juice boxes, Lunchables, and any other retro snacks you can get your hands on!

The '00S

Tell your guy that if he really wants to impress you, he can show you that you’re man enough to take you to a boy-band concert (really!).  Rock the arena with your favorite concert tee, cut-off shorts, and Converse sneakers to keep your look chic and comfy.

What would be your perfect date?
